Today is Frida’s birthday and to honor her I am printing one more edition of my “Frida con Nopalitos” piece. This is an edition of 25 archival quality gliclee prints, hand signed and numbered by me. I am also printing this in a bigger size for the first time! 12 x 12 inches.
Frida was a socialist, she was queer and struggled with disabilities for most of her life. She played with gender norms through dress, and the last thing she'd want is for gringas to commodity her and sanitize her. she wasn't here for your fetishization. Honoring her means never forgetting who she fully was. It is with this spirit that I made the piece and continue to remember her. 🌵
