About

Hi,

I’m AngÉlica Becerra (she/her)

I am a LOS ANGELES-raised, Washington D.C.BAsed queer Mexican VISUAL ARTIST, AND CURATOR OF MODERN AND CONTEMPORARY PRINTS AND DRAWINGS.

I received my Ph.D. in Chicana/o and Central American Studies at UCLA with a concentration in Latinx digital humanities and art. I am currently an Andrew Mellon Postdoctoral Curatorial Fellow in the division of Modern and Contemporary Prints and Drawings, at the National Gallery of Art in Washington D.C.

My focus is on modern and contemporary Latinx art, exploring print cultures as a space of production, distribution, and reception of a new generation of arts activism spanning national and transnational social justice movements. My artwork is primarily print and watercolor, with a focus on Black Indigenous and women of color portraiture. My art has been featured in VICE and the LA Design Festival and exhibited at the Santa Cruz Museum of Art and Self-Help Graphics in Los Angeles. Recently, my work was collected by the Prints and Drawings division at the Library of Congress.

I’m available for freelance projects & events.
